Un approccio personale quanto universale quello di Marie Davidson, performer di musica elettronica, DJ e cantautrice canadese attiva da oltre un decennio. Il suo lavoro si caratterizza per una voce idiosincratica e una palette di suoni sempre più ampia, nonché per le sue performance che mescolano percussioni profonde, melodie synth e battute accattivanti. Le sue produzioni sono uscite sia sotto il suo nome che per etichette come Ninja Tune, Cititrax (Minimal Wave), DFA Records e altre. È di aprile di quest’anno “Y.A.A.M.”, nominato ai Grammy per l’imprint DEEWEE di Soulwax e prodotto dal collaboratore di lunga data Pierre Guerineau: una risposta catartica alle dinamiche di potere all’interno dell’industria musicale. Venerdì 21 giugno il suo atteso ritorno al Dancity Festival.

Marie Davidson, a Canadian electronic music performer, DJ and singer-songwriter who has been active for more than a decade, takes a personal yet universal approach. Her work is characterised by an idiosyncratic voice and an ever-expanding palette of sounds, as well as performances that mix deep percussion, synth melodies and catchy beats. Her productions have been released both under her own name and on labels such as Ninja Tune, Cititrax (Minimal Wave), DFA Records and others. April this year saw ‘Y.A.A.M.’, Grammy-nominated for Soulwax’s DEEWEE imprint and produced by long-time collaborator Pierre Guerineau: a cathartic response to the power dynamics within the music industry. Friday 21 June sees her long-awaited return to the Dancity Festival.
