EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED – Dancity Summer Festival 2025 Lineup

“To expect the unexpected shows a thoroughly modern intellect.” – Oscar Wilde

“If you do not expect the unexpected, you will never find it.” – Heraclitus

Suspended in a bucolic landscape, where time flows with the rhythm of light fading into darkness, we are set to experience a unique musical and sensory journey. Three days of expecting the unexpected: the twenty-first edition of Dancity Festival, an international celebration of electronic music and culture, promises to be a vital source of inspiration for our senses, featuring avant-garde sounds, multimedia installations and cultural encounters.

Friday, June 20 – Dancity Invites x MRC

One of the ingredients that will embellish this new summer edition is ‘Dancity invites’, a format that welcomes independent musical collectives and entities, encouraging a sound dialogue between different artistic visions. The first guest reality will be MRC, a collective that explores the intersections between club culture, art and sound experimentation, which will be presented on the first day of the Festival, Friday 20 June: an immersion in the various facets of contemporary techno, which will feature artists such as DJ NOBU, icon of Japanese electronic music, appreciated for his ability to build immersive sound environments; DAX J, pillar of the current underground techno scene; YANAMASTE, Georgian DJ and producer, representative of a fast-growing emerging electronic scene, in which electronic music becomes a symbol of cultural identity and social resistance; ANIMISTIC BELIEFS, a Rotterdam-based duo that repurposes IDM and Global Club forms to create compelling hybrids through fresh perspectives that are both deeply personal and political; BLANKA, whose Spanish origins infuse hints of warm and exotic landscapes. Together with them the live performance of the young talent BEE and the warm up curated by Dancity resident RIBES.

Saturday, June 21 – Sounds from Latin America & Dancity Invites

This voyage of discovery, which intertwines music and nature through an immersive experience, continues on Saturday 21 June with two different stages, each dressed in eclectic musical nuances. The main one will be dedicated to ‘Sounds from Latin America’ with the great return of MATIAS AGUAYO, a Chilean artist whose music is a blend of deep shadows framed by a blinding tropical sun; VERRACO, a central figure of Latin American IDM, a genre that redefines electronic music through deconstructed Latin rhythms and avant-garde contaminations; RHR, a Brazilian DJ who creates percussive soundscapes that draw on his homeland; also from Brazil, TETO PRETO, a collective that mixes performance art, electronics and political activism, transforming clubbing into a theatrical experience of social denunciation; and finally, the b2b between Lorenzo BITW, a DJ/producer who moves in uk funky, garage and grime territories, and the Dancity resident Orchestra Moderna, will be a world premiere. The second stage will be entirely dedicated to the collaborations of ‘Dancity invites’: the one with KLANG, a Roman collective with which Dancity has created a solid partnership since 2021, and Eufonia, an interesting Umbrian reality that has recently been emerging in the underground undergrowth.

Sunday, June 22 – Sounds from Detroit

Experimenting with electronic music beyond the traditional club context, connecting with the rhythm of the earth and the power of sound, is the fil rouge that accompanies the three days of Dancity Summer Festival 2025 and leads us on Sunday 22 June to ‘Sounds from Detroit’, to those sounds from which the techno we know today took shape. One name above all: JUAN ATKINS, considered the father of Techno – as well as the one who coined its name – has influenced generations of artists with his visionary productions, making a historic contribution to contemporary music and bringing electronic music into the international cultural circuit. He is joined by DJ STINGRAY 313, an eminent pioneer of electronic music, with his musical catalogue dealing with modern science, genetics, health, technology and their effects on the human condition.

…expect the unexpected

But these are still not all the artists who will be performing at the festival. We have not yet told you about Dancity M.A.S. (Media Art Section) and many other surprises…follow us and expect the unexpected.
