Forse troppo avanti per l’epoca – se ascoltate Speciaò Agent MAn + Festivalbar

Band storica nata a Bologna durante il fermento culturale del Movimento del ‘77, i Gaznevada si formarono all’interno della famosa casa occupata “Traumfabrik”, luogo di incontro di musicisti e artisti come il fumettista Andrea Pazienza e il disegnatore Filippo Scozzari. Attivi principalmente tra la fine degli anni Settanta e la fine degli anni Ottanta, il loro sound era inizialmente orientato al punk rock in stile Ramones: con il loro immaginario noir conquistarono presto critica e pubblico dimostrando una grande capacità di tradurre le nuove sonorità che all’epoca si imponevano nel Regno Unito e negli USA. Di quel periodo (1981) è “Sick Soundtrack”, decretato nel 2012 da Rolling Stone come uno dei 100 migliori album di rock italiani. Lo stile dei Gaznevada nel tempo si evolve e trova la sua unicità in una miscela che include elettronica, funk, ritmi nevrotici, sax ruvidi, influenze new wave e rimandi italo-disco. Esplode il successo, soprattutto grazie al brano del 1983 “I.C. Love Affair” – contenuto nell’album “Psicopatico Party” – considerato tutt’oggi una “cult track” della musica clubbing. Da lì una serie di produzioni, come gli LP “Back to Jungle” e “Strange Life”, presenze in TV, collaborazioni a colonne sonore. Terminata l’esperienza Gaznevada, Ciro Pagano, storico componente della band, darà vita al gruppo Datura. Successivamente lui e Marco Bongiovanni vengono invitati alla rassegna “Rock e Rivoluzione” ideata da Pierfrancesco Pacoda in collaborazione con l’Università DAMS di Bologna. Da lì nasce un hybrid live che, dopo essere stato portato al Covo, al Tenax e al Berghain, approda al Dancity Festival domenica 23 giugno 2024, accompagnato da un talk insieme al DJ e produttore Viceversa.

A historic band born in Bologna during the cultural ferment of the ’77 Movement, Gaznevada was formed in the famous squatted house ‘Traumfabrik’, a meeting place for musicians and artists such as the cartoonist Andrea Pazienza and the designer Filippo Scozzari. Active mainly between the end of the 1970s and the end of the 1980s, their sound was initially oriented towards Ramones-style punk rock: with their noir imagery they soon won over critics and audiences alike, demonstrating a great ability to translate the new sounds that were then emerging in the UK and the US. From that period (1981) is ‘Sick Soundtrack’, decreed in 2012 by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 best Italian rock albums. Gaznevada’s style evolved over time and found its uniqueness in a mixture that included electronics, funk, neurotic rhythms, rough sax, new wave influences and Italo-disco references. Success explodes, especially thanks to the 1983 track ‘I.C. Love Affair’ – contained in the album ‘Psychopathic Party’ – still considered a cult track of clubbing music. From there a series of productions, such as the LPs ‘Back to Jungle’ and ‘Strange Life’, appearances on TV, collaborations on soundtracks. At the end of the Gaznevada experience, Ciro Pagano, a historical member of the band, will start the group Datura. Subsequently, he and Marco Bongiovanni were invited to the ‘Rock and Revolution’ event conceived by Pierfrancesco Pacoda in collaboration with the DAMS University of Bologna. From there a hybrid live was born, which, after being taken to the Covo, the Tenax and the Berghain, landed at the Dancity Festival on Sunday 23 June 2024, accompanied by a talk with DJ and producer Viceversa.
