RIVAL CONSOLES

Project of British musician and producer Ryan Lee West, Rival Consoles’ music is an explosion of emotions and sounds, fusing techno, ambient, electronic and post-rock elements into one irresistible blend. In his live shows, he creates an intimate and evocative, almost hypnotic atmosphere through the use of synths and acoustic instruments, which in his hands acquire a sense of songwriting. In fact, his constant desire to create a more organic and humanised sound often sees him sketch out his first ideas on traditional acoustic instruments such as guitar or piano. Fifteen years of career, with accolades from Pitchfork, The Guardian, CRACK Magazine, Vice, Resident Advisor, Electronic Sound, XLR8R, just to name a few; several remixes (for Jon Hopkins, Nico Muhly, Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm, Max Cooper, Noisia, Sasha and the band UNKLE Toydrum) and productions, including ‘Persona’ (2018), ‘Articulation’ (2020) and ‘Overflow’ (2021), up to his latest album, ‘Now’, which draws from many experiments in minimalist songwriting and seamlessly blends synthesisers and acoustic instruments. He has realised site-specific performances at the Tate Modern and for Boiler Room at the V&A Museum; he has played all over the world and participated in festivals such as Sónar, Moogfest, FORM, Mutek, Big Ears, Lovebox and Roskilde. He also composed the soundtrack for the much-discussed Black Mirror episode ‘Striking Vipers’ by Charlie Brooker and the original music for ‘Secret Cinema presents Stranger Things’
