Produttore, cantante e DJ, Coby Sey è noto per il suo stile sperimentale che fonde elementi di jazz, soul e bass music. Dopo anni trascorsi a ronzare nel circuito degli artisti DIY del sud-est di Londra, ha sviluppato una presenza distintiva che offre una visione mutevole e disorientante della musica da club. Collaboratore di lunga data di Mica Levi, Tirzah, Babyfather, Klein e Kwes, il suo lavoro discografico spazia tra strumentazione dal vivo, produzioni basate su campioni e musica sperimentale, fondendo motivi riconoscibili di hip hop, drone, jazz, grime e altro ancora in un’anestesia doppiata. Sul palco queste composizioni oniriche sono impregnate di una pesante e inquieta energia da dancefloor, e arricchite dalla strumentazione dal vivo offerta dai collaboratori abituali Leisha Thomas (Alpha Maid), Momoko Gill (MettaShiba) e Ben Vince, con cui si esibirà giovedì 1 giugno al Dancity Festival 2023. L’atteso album di debutto di Coby, “Conduit”, è stato pubblicato il 9 settembre da AD93.

Producer, singer and DJ, Coby Sey is known for his experimental style that blends elements of jazz, soul and bass music. His performances feature the use of acoustic and electronic instruments, which create a unique and engaging atmosphere. After years spent buzzing around the DIY artist circuitry of South East London, he has developed a distinctive presence that offers a shifting and disorienting take on club music. A longtime collaborator with Mica Levi, Tirzah, Babyfather, Klein and Kwes, his record work spans live instrumentation, sample-based productions and experimental music, fusing recognizable motifs of hip hop, drone, jazz, grime and more into a dubbed anesthesia. Onstage, these dreamlike compositions are imbued with a heavy, restless dancefloor energy, and enhanced by live instrumentation provided by regular collaborators Leisha Thomas (Alpha Maid), Momoko Gill (MettaShiba) and Ben Vince, with whom he will perform on Thursday, June 1, at Dancity Festival 2023. Coby’s long-awaited debut album, “Conduit,” was released on Sept. 9 by AD93.
